Life sometimes can appear to have too much worry, too much stress, too many problems and not enough solutions, too many illnesses and not enough healing, too many bad days and not enough good days! What do you do when you feel as if there’s just too much going on and not enough peace in the midst of the storm? You first stop looking, trusting, and relying on ‘feelings’ and stand back (i.e.-get out of the way) and watch God (Christ) move!
That’s easier said than done, often times because when the storm initially hit, we immediately begin to adjust, most of the time in a negatively manner (anxiety, fear, distress, and sometimes even outward sorrow). Ever thought that not many people die from storms, though almost everybody seems to go through one!
Jesus had to remind his disciples that he’s more than able to handle the storms of life. Whether it’s a Job storm (Job 1:13-19) that affects the ones you love, your belongings or one that affects your body and mind directly (Job 2:7-8), either way God is able to see you through it until He provides your help. AGAIN, I ask, how do I get through the storms of life??
First, you look unto the source, the one who is able to control (Luke 8:22) the wind, waves, situations, and even the one who desires to kill, steal, and destroy. If the Lord has already told you that you’re going to the other side, then no matter what the circumstances look like- YOU’RE GOING TO THE OTHER SIDE!! That helps already.
Second, stop worrying, and leave it up to the Lord. You don’t have to wake or continue to worry the Lord about your situation, for if it appears He’s asleep pertaining to your concern/matter, one thing you can be assured of is when he addresses your situation it will be with power (Luke 8:24b) and absolute authority which will make your situation have to shift. Today may be your peace be still to your situation day!
Finally, you realize that he only allowed the storm so you could marvel more about him. See when the disciples saw Jesus rebuke the wind and waves and they immediately stopped (Luke 8: 25b) and with wonder and amazement begin to boast about how great a God that had on their side.
Look unto him, stop worrying, and then let Him work, so you can tell everybody how God brought you through this storm!
