What you see is not always what you get
Recently, a young man tried to escape during his trial, as he'd seen done many times on TV. While being led out of the courtroom, he broke free of the guards, and scaled a walkway, then tried to jump thru a window! Problem is the glass didn't break and the man hit the ground hard, ultimately landing on the floor. Hurting and now being rearrested, he now faced more trouble than he'd previously had.
That's the way it is with sin; we've watched so much of it on TV, heard about so much of it via social media and the Internet that we think we know how to take advantage of it often times finding ourselves in situations we sometimes can't get ourselves out of (ask Jonah, or Jacob in his dealings with brother Esau, or the unmercifully servant in Matt 18).
I've found it's a lot easier to just honor God and do what he says (Ecc 12:13), for there is no concern of what may come...I've always learned that obedience driven by fear may keep you from hitting a wall or worse consequences coming; but I've also learned that sowing in faith will provide you a harvest beyond what you can imagine (Eph 3:2). Ask Solomon what you see isn't always what you get.
Think about it
