This little Christmas
With all the
economic challenges so many poor and middle class people are facing, for some
it's going to be a little Christmas. Not 5-10 gifts under the tree because
parents don't have it like that this year, but if you were to ask kids what 1
gift would they like, they would still ask for cell phones, iPads, video games,
flat screen TVs, and Nike shoes. All these gifts costing hundreds of dollars
separately.
As you get
older, the one thing you'll learn is less sometimes can be more. You don't have
to have a ton of gifts under the tree, because as you mature you learn the joy
of giving. Giving to someone who otherwise wouldn't have had anything. Giving
to organizations who help the homeless and foster children. Giving to whomever
the Lord places on your heart, whether it be the mailman, beautician, or even
your postman. It's just making someone's Christmas a little nicer thru your
generosity.
God understood
this from the onset, this is why even if you don't get everything you may have
desired; realize that Christmas is really all about Jesus (She will give birth
to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his
people from their sins, and they will call him Immanuel" (which means
"God with us"). Matthew 1:21, 23 NIV
Jesus truly is and
always has been the reason for the season.
If you just take
a moment to reflect as a child of God: What a gift to have not just under my
tree, but in my life each and every day. In good times and bad, when I'm sick
or when I'm well, when I'm up or when I'm down. You may not have enough to buy
every one of your friends something this year, but you can give the
"gift" that keeps on giving.
I have
told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life
for one's friends. (John 15:11-13 NIV)
I pray this lil
Christmas will be special!
