What Are You Eating?

A mother, while working from home one day, got a shock when she arose to find her eldest son eating ice cream and her youngest son eating Sour Skittles for breakfast. She asked them, “What are you doing?” Incredulously they responded, “Eating breakfast'!

The things we put in our bodies today are much different from what we put in our bodies just a few years ago. A few years ago mothers realized that breakfast was the most important meal of the day, because it provided the fuel needed to begin the quest into today! Bad fuel results in poor performance. Ever wonder why we burn out, fade out, and black out when we are supposed to be at our best?

Just like the boys who ate sweets for breakfast, according to our heavenly father, we are putting unhealthy spiritual nuggets into our bodies. Jesus said in Matt 15:15-20 that it's not what a man eats that defiles a man, but what comes out of him. He was teaching a principle about understanding the insides of a man.

In order to comprehend this principle, we must understand the anatomy of the body, how it dictates what is ok to ingest, how long it will stay, and when it is to come out. Do we really understand how this works? For God, through his son Jesus’ spirit (Holy Spirit), has given us the ability to dramatically change what comes out of us, in spite of what goes into us. We are no longer conformers, but transformers (Romans 12:1)! We change things, things don't change us! We love people, even when they don't love us! We forgive and serve others, while yet waiting on being forgiven and served ourselves!

What an irony that situations can come to me one way, but can be turned around for good regardless of the original intent or desire to mess my stomach (spiritual mind) up, even early in the morning.

What's going on in you is important, but more importantly, who’s observing and processing your food intake? What are you eating?
